, L.A.M.E. (Lame Ain't an MP3 Encoder), is the default choice of encoder, as it is fast, with very good quality and stable. It is recommended and is the most widely used MP3 Encoder/Decoder.
, BladeEnc is offered as an alternative to LAME on MP3 encoding. Use this if you don't get the results you wanted by using LAME, or if you want to experiment with different encoders.
, OGG Vorbis is a non-MP3 encoder that uses a different algorithm to encode better and higher-quality files at smaller sizes, or at least so it is said to offer. Note though that some players do not support OGG Playback, so consult your documenatation. Also, be aware that OGG Vorbis is always using VBR (similar to ABR) mode.

, FLAC is a lossless encoder for audio files; that means it works like ZIP compression. In contrast to how most audio encoders work, which are lossy, this one keeps the same quality as the original WAV file, but still compresses the files in a satisfying size. No matter the Compression Ratio, the resulting quality will be the same; so it's only a matter of Speed Vs. Quality. NOTE: This encoder is a bit picky on what WAV files it can encode, so if you get an error message in the DOS window, most probably the file you've selected is incompatible with FLAC. In that case, you should select another encoder.
, OGG FLAC works in the same way as FLAC but wraps the files in an OGG transport layer. You should pick the native FLAC encoder if the layer is of no use to you (or if you don't understand what it means, that is...)
